FEATURED FOSTER DOG
Name: Willa Bee
Age: 6 yrs and 5 mths (best est)
Hello my friend! My name is Willa Bee and as you can see, I'm only part weenie! You might note my adorable little stubby tail, my tall prick ears, my white coat with the rusty red spots.... I am a Jack Russell Terrier! Yes! But WAIT! Look at my short legs! I am a weenie! I am truly 19lbs of two of the most wonderful breeds, and get this, I am only 6 years old! A YOUNG lady, even!
When people hear "Jack Russell" they usually think, "BOING BOING BOING"... but that's not who *I* am. I'm not into the "puppy" scene: playing with everyone and biting things. To be honest with you, I don't get it-- I prefer to watch the world lazily, seemingly disinterested, unless something REALLY important happens. I guess I have an "old soul" in me because I would MUCH rather hang out with the calm, senior dogs than run wild with the whippersnappers around my foster home. You see, I am a calm, sweet, gentle girl that loves to cuddle and relax beside you on the couch or in your chair. At night, sleeping on the big bed with you is like a dream come true for me... except when it rains because thunder and lightning are scary! Of course, as a Lady, I am already crate trained, housetrained, and quite obedient.
You might ask what this young Lady was doing running along a highway when a Good Samaritan found me.... I will never tell! I am glad to be in rescue now, and am hoping for a nice, cozy furever home in my future.
What is DDRTX?
Diamond Dachshund Rescue of Texas is a rescue organization, operated primarily volunteers, in the heart of Texas that is dedicated to the health, welfare, and happiness of our dachshund friends. We are based in Central and South Central Texas and have volunteers in many parts of Texas. We are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. As such, we must rely heavily on donations and contributions, which are a necessity in order to continue to be able to pay the costs of veterinary care and other necessary expenses for each of our dachshunds. Diamond Dachshund has rescued, rehabilitated and placed from 100 to 200 dachshunds each year since our incorporation in 2003. We strive to find the right home for each dog's individual personality and needs so that the placement is permanent and both the dogs and the families who adopt them are equally happy.
